There has been an exponential growth in the number of calls for bed bug reports in Hamilton, Dundas, Stoney Creek and the surrounding area.

Across Ontario a growing number of residents have experienced the sting of bed bug infestations. The number of reports has steadily increased year after year since the early 2000s. With so many calls regarding this pest, we at Nimby Pest Control are always eager to explore newer and safer methods of pest control.

For decades, scientists and pest control experts have studied bed bugs and identified them as an awful nuisance, but posing no health hazard. Their bites can cause itchiness and rashes, but they have not been known to be able to transfer any diseases to their human hosts. However, recent evidence by biologists in the U.S. has suggested otherwise.

This week InsideHalton reported that the Town of Oakville is beginning treatment of public ash trees in anticipation of the Emerald Ash Borer (EAB). From now until the end of the summer more than 3000 public ash trees will receive the injection of TreeAzin this year.

For the past 5 years the number of calls reporting bedbugs and bedbug infestations has been on the rise.  We are seeing a greater number of bedbug related problems and need to take measures to control this problem in Toronto.
