Nimby Pest Management - Robin Control - Removal

The North American Robin is best known for its bright red breast and cheerful springtime chirping.  The robin sustains itself of a diet of insects, fruits and berries.  The latter is particularly annoying for farmers of both berries and grapes.  The North American Robin is widespread, living in both rural and urban areas.  Robins are not easily driven from their homes, especially by force, which is particularly ineffective.

Threat

The primary nuisance robins pose are too crops of berries and grapes.  This is not a matter of swarms of robins eating the entire crop.  The North American Robin will typically eat one or two fruit from a cluster. However, it rarely finishes and leaves damaged fruit open to other predators.  A likely chain of events will see the fruit become moldy or infested with flies.  This endangers the entire cluster of fruit.  An unprotected crop may be littered with spoiled fruit if a family of robins has made the orchard its home.

To properly exclude robins from your valuable crops you must make the environment uncomfortable for them.  This usually involves placing low level vertical netting within rows of your crops. However, no two situations are alike and professional experience is needed for immediate and effective results.  If you are having pest or wildlife difficulties with your crops, do not hesitate to give Nimby Pest Management a call!
